Stand-Up Comedians Who Made Successful Sitcoms

The art of stand-up comedy has possibly been around since the dawn of mankind. If there were televisions in the Garden of Eden, there would more than likely would have been some very funny sitcoms. Through the years of watching many comedians come and go from many shows on stage, only a few have really made it big. The art and ability to bring laughter into a dismal world is very rare.
However, in some cases there are an exceptional few who truly stand out. Those who excel at their craft are sometimes given their own shows. These rare gems of comedy are known as sitcoms. A few of the "crème of the crop" seem to be immortalized not only during prime-time but also on late night T.V. Some very big names come to mind such as Seinfeld, Romano, and Cosby.

To see these individuals in a real life setting sometimes not only gives us laughter, but also pleasure in knowing that we all have struggles. To see Bill Cosby go through a real-life drama with one of his children can give a parent some peace about what he or she may be going through.
On the other hand, when you see Seinfeld go through a dating catastrophe you may feel sorry for him or even a little envious. It seems that the worse the problem, the better the ratings. Even some "Love Woes" of "Joey" were very funny. To see a smooth operator get shot down can instill confidence in the biggest nerd.
It seems that the way of the Waltons and Little House on the Prairie are gone forever, but the trials and tribulations of an individual who we see as having a great life brings just as much peace and tranquility to what can seem like a troubled world. To bring comedy to a stage in front of fifty unhappy people is perhaps one of the toughest things to do on this planet. But to be able to bring joy, peace and happiness to millions of folks, week after week is a feat in itself.
Many of the comedians who do get the opportunity to make it to television write their own scripts. Those scripts are based on their own stories or memories of their childhood. Chris Rock  is one that comes to mind with all the good and bad of his boyhood. To see a young person who lives in the inner-city go through these types of situations makes a country boy feel good about farming.
Just the fact that there are people who can bring levity to this world for a short time is a gift. The fact that we can all experience these antics right along with them is a blessing. Maybe one day we'll all have a sitcom about us. It can be called Soap. Oh wait! That one has already been made. Billy Crystal is just as funny on stage as he is on T.V. and that is what makes a great sitcom.
