Comedy is without doubt one of the best ways through which you can relax. Even if you do not find someone’s jokes funny, you will find it funny that people are not laughing. It is one thing that can never disappoint. One of the most famous and funniest comedians is Patrice O’Neal whose full name is Patrice Lumumba Malcolm O’Neal. He was born on the seventh day of December in the year 1969. Apart from being an American stand-up comedian, he is also a radio personality and actor. His routine is usually blue. This is because he is known for his cutting, often confrontational crowd work during which he often plays couples against each other. He lives in Jersey City. Patrice began his career in Boston where he lived since he was one year old. He first appeared on TV on the Apollo Comedy Hour. Here, he performed his Malcolm XXL bit. Later he moved on to appearances on Showtime at the Apollo and FNight Videos. He also worked briefly as a writer for the world wrestling entertainment.

He also had a string of guest star appearances. These appearances were on Apt 2F, Assy McGee, Ed, Z Rock, Arrested Development, Yes Dear, The Office and Chappelle Show. He was also a regular on The Jury which belongs to Fox. Furthermore, Patrice co-starred in the Comedy Central animated program Shorties Watching Shorties with Nick DiPaolo. He was the voice of Harold Jenkins on O’Grady High. More to that, Patrice was featured as Jesus in Searchlight. In 2007, Patrice made his Def Comedy Jam debut. In order to promote his VH1 series, Web Junk 20, he appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Late Show with David Letterman and the Ellen DeGeneres Show. He is a comedian who loves travelling and he has travelled across the United States performing stand-up comedy which he says is his passion. Showtime, HBO and Comedy Central Presents, have ever handed him half-hour specials. Patrice has also recorded a CD and DVD called Patrice O’Neal – Elephant in the Room.

In the late 1990s, he moved to LA in order to try to break into film and television. During this time, it remained just like that; a try as his endeavors were unsuccessful. Frustration filled his mind and there was a point that he thought if he had a gun, he would shoot himself. Considering that he traveled all the way from Boston to LA, wouldn’t you have the same sentiments?

This was not to last as in 2005; O’Neal filmed a half-hour One Night Stand special for HBO. Thereafter, he became the first host of VH1’s Web Junk 20. At VH1, he was not impressed by the audience as he thought that the show’s target audience was not his audience. In 2006 and 2007, he moved on and joined Opie and Anthony’s Traveling Virus Comedy Tour which played large outdoor concert arenas across USA. Since he lives in the New York area, he performs at local comedy clubs. He headlines appearances at Comix comedy club and Caroline’s. Comedy Central aired his first full hour special, Elephant in the Room, in February 2011. Thereafter, a CD and DVD were released.

On October 26th 2011, his career took a dramatic twist as it was announced that he suffered a stroke on October 19th. It is assumed that it is due to diabetes. On November 29th, 2011 he died. Looking at his career, you can clearly see that this man had a heart of steel.
