There have been a lot of aspirants in this world to make a career out of Stand-up comedy. It is an art one needs to learn with a lot of hard work and endurance. Stand-up comedy can be described as a creative endeavor which will offer you a great number of rewards with complete freedom to travel around. But it is not an easy skill because you are trying to extend the life span of your fellow beings. Making people laugh is much more difficult than making people cry. A man called Carlos Mencia has been laughing people through this wonderful art form, Stand-up comedy with tremendous amount of success. His extra ordinary ability to connect with people made it really easy for him.
Carlos Mencia was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras in the year 1967 and he was the 17th child of his parents out of the total 18. When he was a young baby of three months old he was sent to United States for a better upbringing. At Los Angeles he was under the custody of his uncle and aunt. It is because of this humble back ground his popular image is always that of a tough and street smart kind of a guy. Though his younger days were filled with hardships he was a very good student and showed flashes of brilliance in the class rooms. When someone asked about his earlier days his response was that of an intelligent man. He recollects the experience as humbling and humiliating. During his younger days he learned the greatest lesson of his life, happiness should come from within.
Carlos Mencia is pretty geared up for the upcoming new comedy central special on 6 December 2011 and he has been trying hard to present himself with a much younger look by undergoing a rigorous diet plan. What does he really want to achieve with this program named 'New Territory'? In order to understand that one will have to peep through his achievements till date. He began his career as a Stand-up comedian at the comedy club Laugh Factory and the tremendous talent displayed by him made him a regular performer at the club. It was the beginning of the greater achievements to happen and he became really famous in the Los Angeles comedy circuit. Later he was honored with the title 'International Comedy Grand Champion' from Buscando Estrellas and it made him the center of attraction in shows like 'In Living Color', 'The Arsenio Hall Show', 'Moesha' and 'An Evening at the Improv'. His extra ordinary sense of connecting with the audience and the aggressive nature made him the darling of the crowds. The increasing popularity helped him to host a show 'Loco Slam' in HBO and another show 'Funny is Funny' on Galavision. Carlos Mencia brand of humor became hugely popular and he achieved a celebrity status within a short time.
The first comedy album of Carlos Mencia came out in the year 2000, titled 'Take a joke, America'. He continued his successful journey with 'Three Amigos' in 2002 and even acted in films like 'Outta Time' and '29 Palms'. Different types of awards and recognition were bestowed upon him and he became an integral part of the Comedy Central with great hits like 'Carlos Mencia: No Strings Attached' and 'Mind of Mencia. During this time this great master of Stand-up comedy had released a solo DVD titled 'Carlos Mencia : Not For The Easily Offended' and it was a huge hit as well. His nationwide comedy tour ' Carlos Mencia Live Presented by Bud Light' was an instant hit and his humanitarian concern took him to the Persian Gulf to entertain the troops over there. Later he went on to entertain the American soldiers with a program titled ' Operation MySpace' in the Middle East. His recent hits include ' At Close Range' and ' The Administration of Laughter'. Some of the films in which he was an integral part did fairly well in the theaters as well.
A man with a humble beginning made it really big in the world of Stand-up comedy and still he marches on with great amount of enthusiasm. Now the question becomes very relevant. What does he really want to achieve with this program named 'New Territory'? The greatest lesson he learned 'the happiness should come from within' is making a greater impact on him. These experiences made him better and the harshness in him has mellowed as years went by. Now he is more a refined person with a better outlook. Carlos Menica gets better! That is why people are waiting with baited breath to receive the new Comedy Central Special on December 6th 2012.
